Module Three (3) - Learning Objectives
Cognitive
- Reflect on the competency based philosophy and determine how it is applied to the national TVET system
- Discuss the principles and elements of the competency based education and training philosophy and how to incorporate in a TVET programme
- Discuss principles of instructional design including the ADDIE and ASSURE model
- Explain the components of a competency based standard and its application to a competency based curriculum
- Describe the various elements of a module
Psychomotor:
- Determine the learning outcomes from a selected competency standard
- Align learning outcomes to elements of competencies and performance criteria
- Write objectives according to the various domains - cognitive, psychomotor and affective
- Determine the modules that make up a competency standard and the corresponding elements
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of modules of instruction within the context of the competency based methodology
- Develop modules of instruction as part of a competency based curriculum
- Integrate the related content and employability skills in the design of a competency based curriculum
- Select and include the relevant instructional strategies and assessment strategies in alignment with the objectives of the competency based philosophy
- Develop assessment instruments to collect evidence
Affective:
- Appreciate the competency based philosophy within the context of the TVET systems in Jamaica
- Recognize the value of the competency based philosophy in meeting the needs of employers
- Value the importance of applying a creative solution to addressing a problem
- Appreciate the structured approach when designing a CBET course or module
