Case study

  1. Mr Brown is the newly assigned manager of the Technical Writing department in his organization, he perused the organisation’s operational manual and realized that there were some gaps and as a result this affects the daily operation. He made a decision to revise the manual so as to compliant. He is also aware that technical writing skills are necessary for the purpose of this task in educating, informing or directing persons on how to develop a new manual. In light of this he decided to conduct a training in the following areas.

    v  Technical documentation

    v  Audit trails

    v  Relevant writing styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard)

    v  Standardization (ISO)

    v  Organizational Standards

     

    Task

    1. compile information for the company operational manual based on the above scenario
      • In groups of five (5) conduct a power point presentation based on the information compiled.
